Enchanted Candlelight Holiday Visit & Campfire at Mt. Vernon

12/10/2006
At the invitation of our first President, you are cordially invited to the spend the holiday time at the estate of General and President George Washington. Take a beautiful evening by twilight to explore this vast property, from the mansion to the slave quarters to the fields to the beautiful Potomac River bordering the estate. Unlike other visits, the General has arranged an array of activities as he has decorated his home and lands for the holidays!

(A) MANSION AND ESTATE TOUR: We will take a special early evening tour of the mansion adorned simply with fresh greenery, including a visit to the rarely seen third floor. Washington himself designed the stunning two-story piazza overlooking the Potomac River and the Maryland shoreline. Here, family and guests would gather in warm weather and enjoy the breeze off the river. The mansion will be specially decorated for the holiday seasons, including a Christmas Tree designed by the original Washingtons. Along the way, we'll meet up with a surprised costumed character who will tell us how George and Martha celebrated the holidays at Mount Vernon;

(B) CAROLING & CAMPFIRE: Join your fellow young professionals around a warm roaring campfire as we listen to charming holiday carols. This is a perfect time to bond with new friends over hot cider and holiday cookies.

(C) OLD TOWN VA RECEPTION: After our visit to Mt. Vernon, we will meet up for a special gathering just down the road in Old Town. Light appetizers included Location TBA.

*BONUS: Take home Martha Washington's "Great Cake" Recipe - just in time for your families (subject to availability by Mt. Vernon).
